This just in: Photoshop one-click sky replacement coming soon!
I’m a huge fan of the one-click sky replacement feature as you can see in my Luminar 4 review. It’s just super cool to swap out a dull or blown out sky with just one click.
Up until now this has been exclusively offered as a Luminar 4 feature. But now, Adobe is now stepping up and will be adding their own Photoshop sky replacement function! Have a look at this preview of the Photoshop sky replacement feature:
Manual sky replacement
Sure, you can manually replace a sky in Photoshop. However, it takes a bit of time (and skill!) to mask the sky, import a new sky, and finally color correct to make it all work together.
One-click Photoshop sky replacement
By the looks of it, Photoshop Sky Replacement will take care of all the steps with its own adjustment panel.
The thumbnail preview of all the available sky presets is a great feature. And being able to quickly organize them with click and drag efficiency is impressive. Compared to the sky replacement function in Luminar 4, this is a big step up. It will be interesting to see if Luminar 4 gets an update to include sky preview thumbnails.

The lighting and color change in the foreground when the sky was moved around was impressive. Luminar 4 Sky Replacement also includes this feature. The difference is (will be) that the Photoshop Sky Replacement gives a live preview while moving the new sky around.
The future of photo editing
The video also alludes to Adobe Sensei machine learning, which would officially enter Photoshop CC into the AI fray. I can’t wait to see what else Adobe might be planning with Adobe Sensei.
The use of artificial intelligence in photo editing is definitely here to stay. AI is already having a big impact with the likes of Topaz Labs Mask AI, Luminar 4, and the upcoming release of Luminar AI.
